ICD/ITKE RESEARCH PAVILLON 2016-17

ree

For those who dont know ICD (The Institute for Computational Design and Construction) it is one of the most prestigious research university in Europe amongst IAAC in Barcelona and few other.

ICD and ITKE (the Institute of Building Structures and Structural Design) at the University of Stuttgart complet every year a new research pavilion. In 2017 they were exploring building-scale fabrication of glass and carbon fibre-reinforced composites. The new process is based on the unique characteristics of fibre construction. Because these materials are lightweight and have high tensile strength, a radically different approach to fabrication becomes possible, which combines low-payload yet long-range machines. This collaborative concept enables a scalable fabrication setup for long span fibre composite construction.  The research builds on a series of successful pavilions, which investigate integrative computational design, engineering and fabrication, and explores their spatial ramifications and construction possibilities. The project was designed and fabricated by students and researchers within an interdisciplinary team of architects, engineers and biologists.

What is in and what is out in 2018?

I love pouring over the latest décor trends. I know it is easy to buy into buzzy choices that made you cringe a few years later. So how do you avoid dropping serious cash on the next sponge painted wall or worse, avocado appliance? A safe choice is to just go for a classic home with timeless classy design... like my endless love with scandinavian style that seams to never fall off track. But for those who want to pop it up, make your home more trendy and joyful with a strong character. Here I take together the best decorating trends worth trying in 2018 to help you choose the good from the bad and future-proof your décor.

IN DOUBT? You can book a free hour online with an architect HERE I am happy to give you an advise and help you to make your house your dream sanctuary.

1. STRONG COLOUR PIGMENTS

We are looking at a lot more colours... darker wood... and even a little sixties influence.

2. METALIC ACCENT

3. DARK WOOD

Dark wood is in... has been for a while but in 2018 it is coming even stronger than before supposedly as a consequence from these strong pigmented colours, dark wood just blends better in a more soothing way and then popped with some metallic accent.

3. TROPICAL PRINTS and tiling patterns

We were already seeing this a little in 2017, prints all over... the prediction is that 2018 will have its focus on tropical prints and natural colours. Again popped with metallic accent.

ree

And on we go with beautiful tropical patterns and metallic pop

We see it more and more amazing tiles will pop up the room incredibly... don't be afraid to try.

Decorated furniture fronts or cabinet doors with elaborate carvings, laser treatments, glass, with stone decors or prints and varnishes. This is by KARE.

4. popped Kitchen

Last but not least I am going to mention the kitchen... but that could be a post by it self but just to say that also in the kitchen trends there will be a introduction to a more vibrant colours with metallic influence together with real materials... stone, marble etc. with that it can not go wrong.

Again in 2018 kitchen trends we see the same combination of materials. Strong pigments together with natural materials wood and stone popped with metal. This time it is gold stronger than ever... we have been seeing this golden touch lately but also copper was very strong in 2016 and 2017 but 2018 gold will take over

If you are refurbishing you home or just want to do a touch up... use this as a guide but remember... what ever you do... what colours and which materials you choose.... as long as it is in harmony with the style of your home it is going to look great.

THE PALADS TEATRET

BY Axeltorv 9, Copenhagen stands the most amazingly colourful building. Not discrete but somehow I have walked past many times before and only yesterday I really noticed how amazing it is.

ree

Absolutely stunning...

Opened on 26th January 1918 with “Mountain Ejvind and his Wife”. It had a seating capacity of 1,790 seats and was designed by architects Andreas Clemmensen and Johan Nielsen. The Palads Bio also contained a restaurant and a ballroom and was located next to a newly built entertainment complex, and all buildings were designed in a Neo-baroque style which was popular at that time.

The Palads Bio was always a popular city centre cinema and it was closed for modernisation in June 1955, re-opening on 19th August 1955. It had been completely modernised to the designs of architect Holger Row, with the seating capacity reduced to 1,519 and CinemaScope was installed. In June 1978, when operated by the Nordisk Film chain, the cinema and surrounding spaces in other buildings, including the former ballroom, were sub-divided into 12 smaller screens. Today the cinema houses the latest in technology and comfort.

The entrance foyer is mainly intact, and has survived changes over the years. The exterior has become a landmark in the city with its garish rainbow coloured paint scheme.

Palads is the largest cinema in Denmark. Here is the web of the Palads

This is for sure a place to see in Copenhagen and a fun place to take pictures...the classical architecture and all the beautiful colours...
